In-depth meeting about fishing-tourism in Italy with Flag North Sardinia and Stintino Municipality

The second phase of the working meeting between Petra Patrimonia and the Tunisian delegations of
WWF North Africa and the city of Tabarka took place in Sardinia, on 17th and 18th April, and was
attended by FLAG North Sardinia, National Park of Asinara island, Municipality of Stintino, Italian
Corallari Divers Association, Confcooperative Sardinia, AGCI Pesca and by a couple of fishermen
engaged in the activity of fishing-tourism.

The first day was dedicated to deepening the practice of fishing tourism in Italy and the valorisation
strategies connected to it, through a visit to Davide and Silvia Pazzola’ boat – that since 2017 have started
their own activity within the National Park of ‘Asinara, organizing boat trips to discover the fish and
environmental heritage – and a tour to the Tonnara Museum in Stintino, historical memory of what was
the main activity of the city, which now represents a promotion and support tool for artisanal fishing.
At the center of the second day of work there was instead the exchange of experiences among the various
actors involved, through the presentation of ENSAMBLE project, of the activities of the FLAG Northern
Sardinia and of the objectives of the Asinara National Park related to fishing activities and sustainable
tourism.

The initiative – created to involve the participants in the implementation of common activities for the
promotion of fishing tourism in Corsica, Sardinia, Tuscany and Tunisia – showed the leading role of
Stintino Municipality in the promotion of heritage of artisanal fishing to the French and Tunisian
delegations and served as a starting point for planning a fishing-tourism itinerary that could link all the
areas affected by the project.

A new appointment is scheduled for next June, in Propriano.
